Attention all picture book writers and illustrators from aspiring to multi-published: Registration is now open for this year’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge!
What is it? To quote from the website:
12 x 12 is a playground for picture book writers! The challenge is designed to motivate writers to write 12 picture book drafts in 12 consecutive months. Members participate in an exclusive forum and a very active Facebook group where they can ask questions, find critique partners and share their journeys to getting their books published.
I’ve just signed up to 12×12 for the third year in a row, and quite honestly, I can’t imagine ever missing a year for as long as I write picture books (which will hopefully be forever and ever!)

Membership is more than worth the $177 fee for the monthly webinars alone, which are packed full of helpful content. But it’s also so much more than that: it’s like a course, conference, community etc. etc. all rolled into one.
And to my fellow Brits, or writers from anywhere around the world who wonder whether 12×12 would be useful for them as it’s US-run (by the amazing, tireless, ever-friendly Julie Hedlund, who by the way has a new picture book of her own coming out in September!), I can assure you that so much of what’s offered is internationally, universally, multiversally relevant that you will absolutely not regret signing up (pinky promise!).
I hope to see you there! π
I wouldn’t miss it either, Helen! It’s year #10 for me…and I agree…it’s the best value around for community support and accountability and resources for writers!

Glad you agree, Vivian! And what better advertisement for 12×12 could there be than that – coming back every year for a decade! π

[…] Those of you who have been following my blog for a while will know I’m a huge fan of Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge – I’ve taken part for the last three years and plan to remain a member for the foreseeable future! I won’t go into detail about it yet again, but if you want to read my previous posts, you can find them here and here. […]
